Congratulations & Welcome!

Denver Public Schools would like to extend a warm welcome to all new teachers and educators joining us for the 2013-2014 school year!  The coming months are all a part of your transition into DPS and we want to be sure you have the information you need.

We know that the quality of our educators is by far the single most important factor in driving student achievement and closing the achievement gap. To significantly improve outcomes for students, we must support teachers to develop and improve; and bolster them with effective teams of fellow teachers, school leaders, and staff who share a commitment to and accountability for student results.
The Denver Plan

The district is committed to supporting our new teachers - whether new to the district, new to an assignment, or new to teaching - so each is positioned for success in the classroom. For many, the journey begins as soon as you're hired and as early as this summer!

What happens after I am selected for a position with DPS?

If you are selected for a position, you will receive an email indicating that you have been recommended for hire. Following that, you will receive an email from DPS HR in 1-2 days that outlines the remaining steps of the hiring process. This includes completing a criminal background check, attending orientation, and providing all required documents to HR. The entire hiring process takes about 2 weeks on average.
